Events at the Museum

The Black and White Ball

The Museum’s largest fundraiser, The Black and White Ball outdoor street dance takes place on July 2nd every year. This is a Funky Crested Butte Formal, which means anything goes; tuxedos to costumes, but the theme is black and white. The Black and White Ball always has a fabulous band, cash bar with cocktails, beer and wine, and free appetizers. Admission is $15 and kids under 12 are free. The event runs from 6-10PM and takes place rain or shine. So join us to celebrate the Museum with some dancing in the street.

Kick Ball!

In late July, the Museum sponsors a Kick Ball Tournament at Pitzker Field in Crested Butte. This is a great time for all ages. You can sign up as a group or as an individual. All proceeds go to the Museum and there is usually some local brew for of-age competitors.

Summer Speaker Series

Every summer the Museum hosts a Summer Speaker Series highlighting local families, history and stories of the Gunnison Valley. Firsthand accounts and slideshows always create an enjoyable evening of laughter and learning for everyone. The Speaker Series is Free although donations are greatly appreciated. Stay posted for our next lineup or call.

The Dueling Divas

August 8, 2009, The Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum teamed up with Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory of Gothic to present the Dueling Divas Historical (or is it Hysterical?) Molly Brown Show at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts. This fabulous event features Elizabeth Bond, mezzo soprano and Lori Isley Lynn, soprano, who performed together in London in “Phantom of the Opera”. There were complimentary appetizers before the show and a dessert after part at the Museum.

Private Parties

The Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum offers an intimate setting for your private event, amongst artifacts, photographs and dioramas of Crested Butte’s past. The Museum proves to be an entertaining and educational venue for all ages.

The Museum has hosted wedding ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, cocktail hours, smaller receptions and private parties. The 1883 historical building, affectionately known as Tony’s Conoco, offers the openness of a well planned Museum and provides the space for sit down dining. The Museum space can hold tables and has room for buffet style or served dinner. We have an onsite kitchen available for your catering needs. Hourly rental rates are affordable while at the same time you help an important Gunnison Valley nonprofit. We are fully wheelchair accessible.
